When you think of beach getaways in Southeast Asia, Cambodia doesn’t usually make the shortlist. But tucked along its southern coast is Otres Beach — a sleepy stretch of soft sand, chill vibes, and sunsets that rival anywhere in Thailand.
Why Otres Beach?
If you want a break from temples and tuk-tuks, Otres is your soft landing. It’s quiet, walkable, and has a backpacker-meets-bohemian vibe that hasn’t totally sold out to high-rise hotels yet.
Unlike Sihanoukville’s main city beaches, Otres still holds onto that mellow charm — think bamboo bungalows, reggae music, and $1 beers at sunset.
What To Do
🏖 Beach-hop between Otres 1 and Otres 2 (they’re walkable).
🍹 Chill in a hammock with a fresh coconut or Angkor beer.
🧘 Take a beachfront yoga class in the morning.
🚤 Boat trip to nearby islands like Koh Ta Kiev or Koh Rong Samloem.
🔥 Bonfires & acoustic music at night — usually right on the sand.
Getting There
Fly or take a bus to Sihanoukville, then grab a short tuk-tuk to Otres Beach. If you’ve got more time, explore the nearby islands (they’re stunning, and even more remote).
Best Time to Go
November to April = dry season = perfect beach weather.
Avoid June–October if you hate rain.
